BookWriter and BookCreator are similar apps and both favorites of mine that I have used for at least four
or five years in the LC as well as in my English classes. BookWriter is on all of the iPads for my individual
students. Most of my students can use it independently and it is a great way for them to show what they
know. You can easily include text, audio clips, videos, and pictures from the camera roll (or you can use
the camera right in the all). Students can create books for assignments or projects, or use them as visual
prompts for routines. As a teacher, I can create books for and with my students that are individualized to
them and their plan. We have made many social stories, functional routines, and creative pieces using
BookWriter.
As for which one to use, I use BookWriter most often because that is the one that is installed on all of our
student iPads. However, BookCreator is comparable and both have the ability to produce a great quality
final product. I highly recommend either. Both are user friendly and versatile!
